Voice Call Policy

Responsible AI calling.

Kartio is committed to ethical, transparent, and lawful use of AI voice technology. This policy governs all calls made through our platform.

When Kartio may call

Kartio may make outbound calls only in the following circumstances:

  • The recipient has explicitly consented to receive calls
  • The call is in response to a request initiated by the recipient
  • The call relates to an existing business relationship
  • The merchant has a lawful basis for the call under applicable law

Explicit consent required

Before any outbound call:

  • The recipient must clearly opt-in to receive calls
  • The purpose of calls must be disclosed
  • Consent must be documented and auditable
  • Recipients can withdraw consent at any time

No abusive telemarketing

The following are prohibited:

  • Calls to numbers on do-not-call lists (where applicable)
  • Calls outside reasonable hours (8 AM - 8 PM local time)
  • Repeated calls to the same number within 24 hours
  • Calls with deceptive or misleading caller ID
  • Calls to emergency services or premium-rate numbers

Call recording and transcription

  • All calls are transcribed for quality and reporting
  • Audio may be recorded where permitted by law
  • Callers are informed that the call may be recorded
  • Transcripts are stored securely and access-controlled

Data retention

  • Call transcripts retained per subscription plan
  • Audio recordings deleted after 30 days unless required longer
  • Metadata retained for billing and legal compliance
  • Data deleted upon account termination (subject to legal holds)

Opt-out and escalation

  • Recipients can opt-out at any time during a call
  • Human escalation available when requested
  • Opt-out requests processed within 48 hours
  • Global opt-out list maintained and respected

Prohibited calls

The following calls are strictly prohibited:

  • Emergency services (112, 911, etc.)
  • Premium-rate numbers
  • Calls to minors without parental consent
  • Sensitive categories (health, finance) without proper authorization
  • Any calls in violation of local telecommunications laws
